Power over Camera Link (PoCL) available on Phoenix digital frame grabbers.

Like most other high technology markets the imaging industry is always increasing the demands it makes on the equipment it uses. The Camera Link interface replaced the non-standardized LVDS interface and now many imaging applications benefit from its ease of use, high performance and standardization. However, progress is still demanded and the Camera Link standard (managed by AIA) is always adapting to meet the needs of its users. The ability to provide power to the camera is one such requirement.

Active Silicon has directly worked on the development of PoCL as a member of the Camera Link committee. The result is that PoCL is a viable solution to the problem of adding power to the current interface but still maintaining backwards compatibility with the current standard. It provides 4W at 12V which is enough to power new PoCL cameras such as the G21V31 from CIS Corporation and the CleverDragon series from Toshiba Teli Corporation.
